In a surprising development, it is coming out that the company is manufacturing the phones using fishing nets. Though people may be awestruck, it is true.
The company's new brand mobile Samsung S22 will be unveiled in a spectacular manner on February 9, 2022. Ahead of its launch, the company made some startling revelations. Samsung used the new and surprising material in the manufacturing of Samsung S22 and revealing the information, the company issued a statement which ran “The use of this material marks another step in our Galaxy for the Planet journey that aims to minimize our environmental footprint and help foster more sustainable lifestyles for the Galaxy community,” The company added "These devices will reflect our ongoing effort to eliminate single-use plastics and expand the use of other eco-conscious materials, such as recycled post-consumer material (PCM) and recycled paper,”
Samsung is using the discarded fishing nets and other plastics that are ocean-bound tor S22 brand. Though the company is not forthcoming as to how much percentage of this material is used in the manufacturing of the material, sources revealed that the device is made of glass and metal. The company confirming the usage of the material by recycling fishing nets, went on record saying that they have decided to use this innovation as a part of its strategy to protect the environment from getting polluted with these fishing nets.
They said the fishing nets that are discarded are hampering the ecological balance and polluting the oceans at alarming proportions. They said that the company's decision to use the material will help in keeping the environment clean and green. Samsung's decision to use the recycling fishing nets will help in increasing the use of eco-friendly materials, more preferably recycled post-consumer material (PCM) and recycled paper eliminating the usage of plastics.
Samsung supporting its decision to recycle the fishing nets even quoted the report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations that came out with the findings that more than 640,000 tons of fishing nets are going as waste into the oceans polluting them completely. Samsung Galaxy S22 will be unveiled in a grand manner on Wednesday at 10 AM EST. Samsung often takes pride in designing new and sustainable products in an eco-friendly manner and this time it decided to preserve the oceans and conserve the planet earth.
The company stated 'Ocean-bound plastic is abandoned plastic waste of all sizes (micro-plastics, mezzo-plastics, and macro-plastics) that are located within 50km of shores in communities or areas where the waste management is inexistent or very inefficient.'This is not the first time, Samsung is using recycled plastic in its products. Samsung has been using this material in TV remote controls and also in mobile chargers. Samsung claimed, “marks a notable achievement in the company’s journey to deliver tangible environmental actions and protect the planet for generations to come.”
Samsung is working on eliminating the usage of plastics completely even in mobile packaging and also at its worksites by 2025. The company also claimed that it will work on energy saving, increase energy efficiency and reduce power consumption. Samsung is working on smartphone chargers with zero power standby consumption.
